My story
I have been humbled by the sea. In a storm the first thing that she dismantles is your ego. This happens way before she starts to dismantle your ship. My love for her is deep and unending. She is responsible for introducing me to me.
I worked in the City of London as an insurance broker for 26 years. The role of face to face negotiating served as an excellent grounding for my coaching work. In fact, on a casual level, I have coached people for many years but, previously, I never considered this as a full time occupation. Now that I am coaching for a living, I can say that it is one of the most rewarding adventures that I have embarked on.
In 2017 I decided to leave my job in London to pursue a dream of sailing around the UK. My intention was to return to London, and a job in insurance, after completing my UK adventure but, as often happens, one adventure leads to another!
Together with my wife I have sailed extensively around the North Atlantic. We have explored the Shetland Islands, Orkney Islands, much of the archipelago that makes up the Faroe Islands. We have circumnavigated Iceland, explored the Norwegian coast all the way up to Tromsø, sailed up to Svalbard amongst the ice and glaciers and we even sailed across the line of 80 degrees north, some twenty miles north of Spitsbergen. At this point, the only thing to the north of you is the North Pole! It has been quite the adventure!
Living alongside Mother Nature like this has undoubtedly influenced my spiritual growth and taught me the fragility of life, its value and the importance of living to your highest potential in order to experience what it is that I believe we are here to experience - joy! The most joy we can possibly experience, in whichever way it is that we decide to spend the most valuable commodity that we have - our time!
